GRAND JUNCTION — The Colorado River District purchased the Shoshone water right, the oldest nonconsumptive water right on the Colorado River back in December 2023. The water right was purchased by the Colorado River District from Xcel Energy for the price tag of $98.5 million. Smaller contributors are finalizing their donations to help the Colorado River District to pay the bill.
